Tonight I’m celebrating the birthday here in Detroit of my wife Penny, born on this day in 1954, and getting ready to head to New York City on Tuesday for a week before flying back to London. Here at the Bohemian National Home on All Saints Day we’re listening to music by Thelonious Monk, Robert Johnson, Howlin’ Wolf, Sonny Boy Williamson, John Sinclair & His Blues Scholars featuring Wayne Kramer & Charles Moore, Eddie Jefferson, James Semark, Miles Davis, Fats Domino, Junior Kimbrough, and Kermit Ruffins & the Barbeque Swingers. Closing the show—also celebrating his birthday today—is the great Andre “Mr. Rhythm” Williams with a musical salute to one of the Motor City’s former products, the mighty Chrysler 300.
