Tom Morgan is an award-winning jazz historian and community broadcaster usually heard on WWOZ-FM in New Orleans. Recently Tom was unjustly suspended from the air after being attacked in the studio at shift change by another deejay. While Tom’s off the air in New Orleans we have decided to double his airtime on Radio Free Amsterdam and will be running his New Orleans Music Show archives every Tuesday and his Jazz Roots show every Wednesday this fall until he is reinstated.

The New Orleans Music Show with Tom Morgan for this week is packed with irresistible music from the Crescent City, starting with a salute to the Mardi Gras Indians by Dr. John, Indian performances by Big Chief Peppy with Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue and the Young Apaches with the Mahogany Brass Band, and then a stream of hard-core New Orleans R&B classics by Larry Williams, Huey “Piano” Smith, Eddie Bo, Paul Gayten, Lloyd Price, Cookie & the Cupcakes, Earl Palmer with Big T. Tyler, James Booker, and Professor Longhair.
