Many thanks to John Sinclair, Radio Free Amsterdam, and Detroit Life Radio for making this show available online.

Original broadcast date was August 28, 2004, one year and one day before landfall of Hurricane Katrina. This was the last Brass Band Jam program before cancellation by WWOZ management. The show ran for approximately eleven years on WWOZ, and was originated by the esteemed DJ Davis Rogan. It is indeed ironic that with the current focus on New Orleans culture via HBO’s Treme series, this show was cancelled almost six years ago.

Corrections: First cut is Blackbird Special, not Mary Mary. The “Bongo Bop” cut is actually named Bongo Beep.

Thanks for sharing the Famous Coachman broadcast.

Does anyone have a photo of the Famous Coachman that you could stick up here?

Maybe you could also include photos of some of the artists you feature?

The April 24th Sonny Rollins broadcast sounds interesting.

Man many thanks for taking me back in time to the great Detroit blues days. The Famous Coachman, and yes you Mr Sinclair were steady on my radio constantly, along with Robert Jones in those days. Coachman is forever in my heart! And now he can be in others hearts too!
